Our site consists of a welding plant, paint shop, final assembly plant and several adjacent areas. With 183,238 cars produced (2021) per year, we are one of the strong holders within Volvo Car Corporation. We currently build the XC40, V60 and C40 models. Soon they will also start with the production of the brand new EX30. With 6,500 employees we are the largest industrial employer in East Flanders.

By 2025, we expect half of all Volvo cars sold to be fully electric cars. In addition, all newly developed Volvo models introduced since 2019 will have a variant equipped with an electric motor. More than a century after the invention of the internal combustion engine, we are making way for a new chapter in automotive history.
Volvo is going to present a diverse range of all-electric, "plug-in hybrid" and "mild hybrid" models in the coming years. The first fully electric Volvo, the XC40 Recharge, has been produced at the Ghent plant since the second half of 2020. The second all-electric Volvo, the C40 Recharge, since the second half of 2021.
Volvo may also be the first to assemble batteries for the electric Volvo XC40. Our employees receive intensive training to work in this brand new factory and were involved in this groundbreaking technology from the start.
Volvo Cars Ghent is looking for Maintenance Technicians who want to work on their fully automated production lines.
Your responsibilities include the following:
You analyze and solve malfunctions (electrical, mechanical, PLC, frequency control, motors, pumps, engines etc.) on fully automated production installations; You optimize automated production plants in terms of production output, quality and technical reliability; You perform preventive and corrective/curative maintenance tasks. You take a number of installations out of service and check them in order to avoid failure; You identify, repair or replace defective systems or components (e.g. sensors, parts of the installation etc.) of industrial automated installations in accordance with regulations, machine specifications, documentation, etc.; You will receive the necessary training and support and pass this on to your colleagues; You will be closely involved in the introduction of new installations, processes and new car models; You will work in a team with your fellow technicians.

You have experience working on projects in a production environment; You have a first experience in the automotive industry; You have experience with automated production lines and PLC-controlled machines (e.g. Siemens TiA, SattLine, Profinet, CamarC3G, ABB, IRC5 etc.).
You have a technical degree or equivalent by experience. Preferably a bachelor's degree in Energy Technology, Electromechanics or similar, or a 7th secondary specialization year in Electrical Installation Techniques, Measurement and Control Techniques or similar.
Communicative English skills at a B2-C1 level are required for this job, this is the language you will communicate in. You are open to learning Dutch in time, Volvo provides lessons.
At Volvo, we value your commitment and dedication. You are hired on a one year contract, which gets extended to a permanent contract after a positive evaluation.
You work 39 hours a week; You are paid twice a month; The gross hourly starting salary is €23.80, this can increase depending on your experience; You have mealvouchers of €6/day of which you pay €1.09; The estimated net monthly salary is €2600 in the early/late shift and €2900 in the night shift; The shift hours as a maintenance technician are 5:15-13:30 and 13:30-21:30 for the alternating early/late shift and 21:30-5:15 for the permanent night shift; The shift bonus for the alternating early/late shift is +11% and for the night shift +26%; A lot of extralegal benefits like hospitalisation insurance, pension saving, private accident insurance, employee car program etc.
