What will you do

The company VERSTRAETE Enterprises, headed by CEO Sofie Verstraete and CFO Arnaud Cornille, belongs to the sector of general electrical companies. This mainly means carrying out electrical works for infrastructure managers and industrial sites on overhead and underground pipelines, installing and removing lighting and electricity poles, installing electrical and industrial installations in buildings, working on the grid and TV/telephony distribution, CAD and surveying work. In addition, the company is active in the field of installing data cabling and security in the industrial and private sector. Verstraete Enterprises also provides home connections for gas, water, electricity and TV, telephony and internet. Verstraete Enterprises stands for a grouping of companies which currently consists of 3 operating companies (K. Verstraete & Zoon NV, Vekan NV and Iveca Technics NV). KVZ was founded by Kamiel and Geert Verstraete in 1969 after Kamiel Verstraete became a pole-planter as an independent electrician after the war in 1932 and cooperated in the electrification of the remote areas during the reconstruction. Later, the company expanded and grew into several operating companies with branches all over Flanders.

As a technician public lighting you perform work on the overhead lines, this can be high or low voltage. You recognize grid systems and are able to detect errors. Together with a colleague, you are also responsible for placing or removing (lighting) poles using an aerial work platform and/or crane truck. Signaling and the correct use of personal protective equipment are always a must. You also help in unloading and loading all materials and keep all tools clean. As a technician, you can also be called in to repair lamps. This involves electrical reasoning to solve faults (e.g. replacing cables, replacing ballast, etc.). You connect the lights to the electrical network.
