What will you do

Originally started as a diesel service company, this company has grown to become the largest shipyard on the Belgian coast. In the field of welding, they want to further establish its name as the contact point for production and installation of all possible high-quality steel constructions or welding work both onshore and offshore.

We are looking for a Ship repair foreman to lead teams of 18-20 people in Brugge. The ship repair foreman will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality repair of vessels within our dry dock facilities. Your responsibilities include the following: • In collaboration with the project leader and the team coordinator, you will contribute to the successful completion of mechanical and welding projects, on board of ships. • You mainly work outdoors, limiting administrative tasks to checking work orders and ordering materials. No complicated calculations or quotations, just hands-on work. • You will supervise different yards and work, obviously consulting with the client and adjusting the project if necessary. • Depending on the specific project, you supervise various people on the dry dock, such as subcontractors and welders. • In case of problems, you are the first to quickly intervene and help solve them.

Language expectations

Communicative English skills at a B2-C1 level are required for this job, this is the language you will communicate in.

What our client offers

• You work 38 hours a week, but are willing to do 7-12 hours of overtime every week (paid at 150% or as a compensation day). • The gross hourly starting salary is between €17 and €20, depending on your experience. This is negotiable. • The shift hours are 8:00-16:30 from monday to thursday.
